Computing Workshops
Department of Physics and Astronomy
University of Leicester
The computing workshops listed below are an integrated
sequence of practical teaching modules which provide
a comprehensive introduction to computing for physicists.
In the 1st year there is an Introduction
to procedural programming using C. A 2nd year follow-up
course, also using C, provides an introduction to Modular programming.
These courses give every student a firm grounding in basic programming
principles with
emphasis on procedural and modular programming in the context of
numerical computation.
Two Fortran 90 workshops are also available for those who wish
to learn these principles using Fortran.
The others workshops are available to third and fourth year
students and provide an introduction to programming for data analysis,
object-oriented programming and programming of hardware interfaces.
If you are using Netscape under X and some of the mathematical symbols are
incorrect have a look at
Xfonts .
